UAB Decision Science Symposium

The 2018 Decision Science Symposium brings together a group of distinguished scientists who are pursing highly innovative approaches in medical decision making. Their work represents diverse scientific aims and research strategies that have produced both population level models that inform broad strategies and policies for public health and person level approaches to guide deliberations between patients and their doctors. The symposium will provide a platform for discussion and debate highlighting the tension between the population and person perspectives in health decision making. Based on symposium presentations and discussion, we will seek to develop a series of papers that advance the frameworks and research priorities for linking these perspectives to optimize population and personal health goals.
