The founder and leader of the innovation team at the oldest, largest private bank in the United States will present a lecture at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) today.
Phil Swisher, a senior vice-president at Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) in Boston, will discuss the topic, "Introducing innovation in a Stoic Institution," at The Edge of Chaos, an event and conference venue at the Lister Hill Library on campus, at 3 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Swisher's innovation team at BBH is focused on building new products and services that will generate long-term revenue, according to the firm's web site.
In 2012, Swisher was one of 11 innovation experts named to a council for innovation by Massachusetts Gov. Duval Patrick. The council was established to find ways to use technology to streamline the delivery of government services.
Prior to joining BBH, Swisher worked at a couple of financial-sector start-ups and at investment bank Goldman Sachs.
Swisher is also scheduled to appear this morning at an invitation-only breakfast hosted by the Birmingham Business Alliance.
